The Huffpost and others are covering the emergence of a new GOP primary debate topic as Republicans scramble for voters in the Iowa Primary. www.huffpost.com/…
The Satanic Temple, taking full advantage of the same laws that enable Christians to promote displays of their religion on public property, gained permission to put up a display to Satan at the Iowa State Capitol.
This certainly isn’t the first time this issue has arisen somewhere in the USA. What seems new this time is that it has now, seemingly, been elevated to a defining issue in the GOP primary. Who had “Ron DeSantis infers Trump supports Satan” on their bingo card?
Needless to say, the Satanic Temple is thrilled, since the GOP has (again) leaped at the chummed water. This debate is a lose-lose proposition for the Republicans since the Religious Right is caught on its own petard — the RR says they only want to express their Christian faith, not repress other faiths, then proceeds to do the latter at the first opportunity.
Now that DeSantis has pinned this on Trump, the story may have cloven-hooved legs. And the comedy writes itself — SNL needs to be spanked and put to bed without cookies if they are not writing up a skit as we speak.
