I’m halfway through Mercedes Lackey’s newest Valdemar book. Strangely enough, entitled Valdemar. It’s the final installment in a trilogy about the founding of the country.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Fifty-two things learned in 2023.
The staff of Nature picked some gorgeous science pictures in November.
The golden mole was thought to be extinct. They’ve been found again in South Africa.
A fossilized tyrannosaur with its last two meals also fossilized.
Astrophotographer hits a bonus. Three relative rarities all in one picture.
An ancient turtle species fossil was originally misidentified as a plant.
The best memes of 2023, according to Rolling Stone.

I did some grocery shopping a couple of days before Christmas. I forgot to mention something. I was in one store while they were playing a choral version of the Chipmunks’ Christmas Song. That’s right up there with the choral rendition of I Gotta Be Me that I recall hearing on the radio many long years ago.
I finally got the grandkids out for another sushi dinner on Friday — along with one of my grandson’s classmates. She was surprised to be invited; but she was visiting when I needed some help with a few things and came over with the grandkids. She did everything I asked her to and complained even less than the grandkids — who don’t complain at all. I thought she had earned it.
Also on Friday — the appointment was at noon — I got my COVID shot and flu shot. I usually get standard immunizations in October, but this one was a bit discombobulated.
I’m not even going across to the offspring this evening. I have bubbly and the sort of snacks that make a solid meal, and I’m not particularly interested in staying up to midnight.
Knocked one of my favorite coffee mugs off the table and broke it. Ordered more — the same size, not the same item.

Love you guys!
