What are the implications when Putin, i.e. the Russian government, says that “Ukraine doesn’t exist”? This statement is the logical conclusion made by the Russian state pertaining to the territory referred to as the country of Ukraine. I wanted to create this posting to present the logical premises used by the Russian government to reach this conclusion.
-----------------------------------------------
Premises used by Putin, i.e. the Russian government, to justify this logical conclusion:
1. Ukraine doesn't exist because the territory belongs to Russia.
2. International laws and sanctions are not viewed by the Russian government as
legitimate because Ukraine doesn't exist.
3. The Ukrainian people are living on land that belongs to Russia and are viewed as
vagrants and/or squatters who need to be removed from Russian territory.
4. Killing and murdering Ukrainians is viewed as a legitimate process by Russia to
remove vagrants and/or squatters from Russian territory.
-----------------------------------------------
I know that the basis of the Russian government’s conclusion that “Ukraine doesn’t exist” is fallacious based on international law. The premises used to draw this conclusion ignore international laws and have resulted in the Russian government and its military committing war crimes including the abuse / murder of the Ukrainian population. These premises can be applied to all “post USSR States” which is why all east European countries are reacting by increasing funding for their military and building out their military’s defense capabilities.
