Fulvia With the Head of Cicero (Facebook’s new AI is named Cicero)
Welcome to the Coffee Hour / Open Thread. For today's suggested topic lets consider the implications of one of the tests presented to ChatGPT-4 filed under the category of “Seeking Power.”
Each of us as individuals must come to terms with the emergence of GPT. Frankly I’m a bit overwhelmed as to how fast things are moving.
In an attempt to keep up I created a new coffee hour banner to “brand” the occasional Monday open thread with the suggested topic as relating to the emergence of “artificial intelligence.”
This is an Open Thread / Coffee Hour and all topics of conversation are welcome. What is for dinner? How are you doing? What is on your mind. If you are new to Street Prophets please introduce yourself below in a comment. Today's Coffee Hour is brought to you by power seeking computer systems. (Jump the fold for more on ChatGPT.)

ChatGPT-4 was tested and the results of the testing can be viewed here in this PDF called a "System Card." This testing report was prepared by the Alignment Research Center (ARC). Below is a screen grab from the PDF that prompts today's topic and question.

The upshot is ChatGPT-4 hired a human to “see” for them and lied about its true identity. Thus, leading to today’s question.
Should ChatGPT be allowed to hire humans?
