The argument that Parents have a right to protect their children from such evil teachings as respect for LGBTQ rights or learning the history of racism is an easy argument to counter. We just need a group of parents to sue the states or school districts on the very same ground that was used to justify the book banning in the first place. And that is Parental Rights.
Just argue that you believe in Critical Race Theory and LGBTQ rights and that as a parent you are being denied your parental rights to have your kids learn that in school. You are paying the same taxes to the school district as those who oppose those teachings. So, you deserve, as a parent exercising your parental rights, the same access to those books, as any other parent has to shelter their kids from those teachings.
I would like to see any court, no matter how conservative, rule that parental rights only exist for bigotted, white supremacist, parents. Progressive parents must demand parental rights and sue if they are denied that right by a state, county, town or school board.
