There's a scorched-earth tendency going on these days and I want to state that I don't want any part of that.
No matter what the issue is, no matter what the subject, the tendency today is to automatically blame the other political aisle for it. Just immediately, we're all about "The Train Wreck is Trump's fault." Yeah, ok, he did cut the regulation that might have prevented it, it doesn't mean that Norfolk Southern would have retrofitted all their trains for that requirement yet - but then that generates the response that "The Train Wreck is Buttigieg's Fault" because he didn't *restore* that regulation fast enough. (And it does take time to implement regulations, it's not a snap of the finger.)
Seriously? Maybe, just maybe, it's not that simple.
Ted Cruz is like "The Ukraine War is Biden's fault" - when frankly the Ukraine war started in 2014 when they originally annexed Crimea. Both Obama and Biden fought like hell to prevent it, negotiating sanctions through the EU and NATO against Putin *before* he decided to escalate things. We all know that, we saw it. During Trump's time, he tried to *drop* sanctions on Russia for invading Crimea at least 3 separate times. He wouldn't have lifted a finger to stop Putin.
But ultimately, it was Putin's decision. He's the one responsible.
Whatever the issue is - blame the other side. Before anyone looks at the facts, without looking at the circumstances, without weighing their options. People, that is just fucking petty.
All the GOP is doing these days is performance art. They are throwing their base red meat but not making any real suggestions or bills that would help anyone. Such as trying to outlaw the Democratic party, and make bloggers who write about Desantis register with the state or else face fines.
Meanwhile, the GOP accuses Democrats of being “performative” when we tried to Impeach Donald Trump. Twice. Arguably, we had the small hope that the GOP members of the Senate would actually do the right thing for the nation.
Fat chance there.
Will Trump finally get indicted for his fraud, obstruction and incitement? I doubt it. I really do. He frankly should have *already* been prosecuted for Campaign Finance Fraud like Michael Cohen but he's.a rich white man, so he gets rich white man justice. Like OJ did once. We all know that's the case. All bets are off. He really can get away with murder. Literally. He'd just claim "Self-defense" and walk away. Like Rittenhouse did.
Even if he does get indicted, he's still gonna run for President again. He's just gonna file motion after motion to delay the case right up into 2024 or after and argue that it's just another "Witch hunt" like the one before, and the one before that.
Then if he wins, he's invulnerable again. In fact, that's probably part of why he's running again in the first place. Then after that comes the payback, and that's gonna be Fugly. So if you don't want the country to go through that impending nightmare, don't depend on Jack Smith, Letitia James or Fannis Willis to save us.
They aren't going to.
He's going to just have to be defeated again, the old fashion way, with VOTES.
Several times on this my facebook group, Army for Truth, I have listed some of the accomplishments of the Biden Administration. Record Job creation, record low unemployment, record deficit reduction, record stock market, increased GDP, record investments in infrastructure and green energy, record vaccine distribution, recovering our position on the world stage, restoring the Paris accords, reduced inflation, reduced gas prices.
GOPers react to all of that like it didn't happen, it doesn't matter or it's still not good *enough* even though Trump lost millions of jobs, he had a lousy GDP which was the worst since Herbert Hoover, he politicized his response to Covid, the DOJ and Homeland Security, he committed human rights crimes at the border, he had a lousy record on regulations and safety, he wanted to nuke a hurricane and thought he could change it's direction with a sharpie, he recommended that people inject bleach and shove UV lights under their skin, he pandered to Big Business, Putin, Xi and Ung, his tariffs didn't work, his wall fell over, he helped Iran move closer to gaining nukes, he didn't try to do anything on police or justice reform, and he increased the deficit by $3 Trillion.
I'm not saying there aren't things that Biden has done badly, like failing to anticipate the collapse of Afghanistan, or Trump didn't do well, like the 1st Step Act, but c'mon people "Winning" can't be all you care about. There are basic *facts* to consider and acknowledge. You don't have to ignore everything that's an "own goal." That's the sign of being a partisan hack and shill rather than an honest broker.
This country needs to grow up and get the hell out of the terrible twos. It's childish. This country and this world still have some real problems we need to address. We have to look at all this with seriousness, we have to be honest with ourselves. If there's a problem on our side of the aisle, we need to be honest and address it ourselves not jump into our corner and start making excuses. That may feel good, but it leads nowhere.
If Hunter Biden gets indicted and prosecuted - then So. Be. It. Yes, most of the allegations against him are from a Russia Spy. Yes, it's probable that the some of laptop files are the result of the hack of Burisma by the GRU. If he goes down for tax charges or gun charges - thems the breaks. He's not in charge of *anything*. He's not a politician. He's not part of the government. It's no big loss politically. Let it be.
If Joe Biden is somehow entangled with Hunter's businesses - although that wouldn't really be illegal, lots of politicians are also business people - then he should face the music too, if only for lying about it. Bad Biden.
If we can't be honest with ourselves, we certainly can't be honest with each other.
And we can't get anything serious done.
