It's been quite a long while since I've written a diary, and I suspect my mojo has dissipated somewhat in the interim, but here goes.
I saw a ton of comments disparaging Attorney General Merrick Garland yesterday and I'm guessing there's been a lot of that in Trump investigation story comments for quite a while.
As I read them, I thought “boy these folks really need to follow [on Mastodon] and read Teri Kanefield's blog.”
If they had been following Teri [on Mastodon] and reading her blog, hopefully they would have learned that the “problem” they are so angry about (Trump still not in jail) isn't a problem at all, it's very much a solution.
Granted it's a rather frustrating and sometimes anger inducing solution when it's someone like Trump taking so long to get put in the judicial crosshairs. However, that there are what feels like way too many safeties to be turned off before the judicial trigger can be pulled and the obviously guilty person can be shot with the paintball of Justice is very much a solution.
Imagine for a moment you are a black man in rural Mississippi in 1926. Do you want justice to be swift and sure? Justice that likely as not will have your ass in a chain gang, if not your neck in a noose hanging from a tree? I bet not.
If you've been turning red over Trump not having been put in jail many months ago and perhaps have been spinning up a few hypothesis about who has kompromat on whom (AKA conspiracy theories), take a breath, sit down and read Teri's bio.
Now that you're a bit more familiar with Ms. Kanefield, head on over to Mastodon — wait, what? You don't have a Mastodon account? What the hell are you waiting for? See my comment here to get started.
Now where was I… oh, right, head on over to Mastodon and follow Teri, @Teri_Kanefield@law-and-politics.online. I've been following Teri for… well, for a long time. I'd have to poke around my old Twitter replies to figure out how long I've been following Teri, and I'm definitely not going to do that. Let's just leave it that it was long enough to be one of her many followers who referred to her as “Twitter-mom” (yeah, I’m 66...). But that was before the justice is broken crew got nasty and Teri's patience with their self serving crap grew thin and many of us moved to Mastodon.
Anyway, Teri's most recent blog post is out. Up near the top of it she says:
"His method is to (1) Fire up his reactionary base and (2) bait non-reactionaries into helping him destroy rule of law."
It's quite a good blog post and links to several earlier posts you're going to want to read, so refill your coffee, or your tea, or wine, whiskey or beer and read them, including the FAQ page.
When you are finished, please remember, leave the bait to rot.
It will be excruciatingly frustrating, so take a deep breath, take several deep breaths, get some more popcorn and your preferred beverage and watch the indictments play out. Yes, plural, there will be more; pop some more popcorn...
