If people stay inside the comfort of their own political zones and never entertain opposing ideas, what could it possibly mean?
It will undoubtedly result in the hardening of one’s preconceived notions — wrong as they might be, to begin with — and an increase in hate, anger, and crimes that could easily have been avoided.
A friend texted this week:
“I watched the opening segments of CNN this morning: A Black kid shot when he rang the wrong doorbell, girl killed when she pulled in wrong drive way, cheerleaders shot getting in the wrong car, child shot when he ball rolled into a neighbors yard… I don’t even recognize this country anymore.”
Where We Are Today
Protests in Kansas City — and outrage nationwide — mounted this weekend over the shooting of a Black teenager whose family says he accidentally came to the wrong address to pick up his younger siblings.
On Monday evening, Clay County prosecutor Zachary Thompson identified the shooter as Andrew D. Lester, an 84-year-old white man. Thompson's office filed felony criminal charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action against Lester.
