Heard this on the radio (yes I has the old an I still have a radio alarm clock) when I got up this morning.
Some court filings about trying to keep Jack Teixeira behind bars before his trial have been relseased. I think this shed light on the fall out where the base he was stationed at lost their intel mission
“How could this guardsman take this information and distribute it electronically for weeks, if not months, and nobody knew about it?” Democratic Sen. Jon Tester of Montana asked the Air Force leaders testifying before a Senate defense appropriations subcommittee.
Well according to the court filings they did know about it.
In September, six months before his detention, Teixeira was seen “taking notes on classified intelligence information” before putting the notes into his pocket, according to an Air Force memo written at the time, submitted to the court by prosecutors Wednesday.
Teixeira’s superiors asked him if he intended to share the notes, before telling him at a meeting to “no longer take notes in any form on classified intelligence information,” the memo said.
A month later, another Air Force memo said the airman had failed to do this, “potentially ignoring the cease-and-desist order on deep diving into intelligence information” when he asked “very specific questions” during an internal briefing. He was told to focus on his job, it said, and to stop making "deep dives" into classified information.
And they released some information about his chats that may speak to motive (WaPo Gift Link wapo.st/…
“Knowing what happens more than pretty much anyone is cool,” the airman allegedly wrote in a chat dated mid-November. When another user suggested he write a blog about the information, Teixeira replied, “making a blog would be the equivalent of what chelsea manning did,” referring to a major classified leak case in 2010.
Sounds much like Trump blurting out classified info to whoever he was trying to impress, it is cool to know this stuff, see look what I know that you don’t.
Did he know know she went to prison? Or did he thinks times have changed and this sort of thing is acceptable now, even when getting reprimanded?
ETA: Thanks for the rec list.
