I wanted to take a break from studying the incessant violence plaguing our nation, the cancerous stupidty infecting its citizens, and the false equivocation that passes for journalism. Really, I did. I just wanted a cup of hot cocoa, a nice session with the heating pad, and a pizza. That was the plan.
However, your human Claw is simply not able to stand by, and watch the country normalize lunacy. Meet, “Tolly Taylor.” I don’t know “Tolly Taylor.” He might be a nice person. In a lot of cases, it is the editors that cause the issue. Can’t say.
But Mr. Taylor, on Twitter, posted a Tweet so over the top in its false equivalence as to qualify for parody on Saturday Night Live.
The only other side I would want to hear from is this guy’s attorney if he is arrested. Which he won’t be, because apparently, even in Maryland, this is legal.
Blue Twitter has opinions:
Here is Taylor’s public bio:
Before joining WBAL-TV, Tolly spent two years as an investigative reporter at WPRI-TV in Providence, Rhode Island, where he won a 2022 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for a report revealing state government built a highway on top of a graveyard with hundreds of bodies.
Prior to that, he was an education investigative reporter at WSBT-TV in South Bend, Indiana, where he won a 2020 Society of Professional Journalists Award for education reporting. While at WSBT, he also covered former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg's 2020 Democratic Party presidential debates.
So he won an award, great. For some reason, officials in Rhode Island built a highway on top of an old cemetery. He exposed it. Awesome. Can’t imagine what the side street traffic is like there now, because who wants to drive on Reaper Expressway?
But in all seriousness, what is this reporter thinking? We simply can’t cede the ground on this. There is no “both sides.”
There were no both sides in Charlottesville, either, but I suppose anything can be normalized if ratings depend on it.
There are human beings that do not want to scare the Cocoa Puffs out of children and there are people like this man, walking around ready to invade Cuba.
I could understand where one would assume that this is some kind of mental illness, but that is not something I could diagnose as that is not my field.
Jamie Sparrow, a Severn Elementary School parent, recorded a cell phone video Wednesday showing the man with an AR-15 in his hands at the bus stop where his 6-year-old daughter gets off. Parents said the man, J'den McAdory, has been there for drop-offs for weeks. McAdory said what he's doing is not about scaring parents or children -- it's about protesting the recent gun control measures Gov. Wes Moore signed into law.
"Guns can be safe if it's controlled by the right person," McAdory said. "I really wasn't coming out here for the kids. I was coming out here to show people that this is legal."
Governor Moore has opinions as well:
Moore's office provided a statement, saying, "To stem the tide of gun violence and create safer, stronger communities, we need partnership – not shallow acts of cowardice and intimidation. Scaring our kids and threatening our communities won’t help make Maryland safe. The governor won’t allow these tactics to stop his administration from taking common-sense steps to protect our communities. He condemns this behavior and will keep fighting to build a safer Maryland."
According to the report, some people actually cheered McAdory as he was being interviewed.
The good news is this sort of behavior appears to be outlawed in the state of Maryland starting October 1st.
I hope I am not adding rum to my hot cocoa by then. I am running out of hair to pull out of my head.
