This is going to be pretty short diary this week. Over the past couple months I've been doing some fairly heavy cleaning and lifting out in our sheds. I noticed a painful twinge start in my left hip. It's bursitis, got worse very quickly, and has recently expanded to include something I'd never heard of before, illiotibial band syndrome. On a day when I couldn't get out of my chair because of the pain I ended up going to the emergency room. Fortunately the X-Ray showed no hip fracture (which was a concern at first). They gave me morphine in the hospital. I was seriously grateful for it.
Now I'm on Prednisone for a couple more days, Vicodin for a couple more days, and Naproxen for a while yet. My physical therapy can't begin until June 28. I'm using a cane and a walker to get around. I get tired pretty quickly. But I am still here, even if I'm not my usual self.
Me just before going home. They tried to get me to go to a skilled nursing rehab for a while. I declined.
Smiling because morphine really is pretty good stuff when you're in serious pain.
The ramp my kids built for me while I was in the ER. It's such a help.
Anyone who has experience with this sort of thing or suggestions for me are especially invited to share their knowledge. TYIA.
