It’s been said many times, but apparently, it needs to be said on a regular basis.
It is misogynistic to insult a man by implying he is a woman, or by outright calling him a woman.
Period.
I know that culturally, it’s a common practice, and has been for a long time, but that doesn’t make it right. Usually when it happens on DK, someone corrects it. Today, I happened to do so for someone doing it to Lindsey Graham (a common occurrence). We all know Graham is a miserable whiny man, looking-for-the-most-alpha-male to follow. However, calling him Miss Lindsey, or other variations, is insulting to women.
That implies that women are less than men. Thank you very much.
When not thinking about it, it’s so easy to do, and I do NOT think that everyone doing that is a misogynist, but it is a misogynistic way of speaking. Please be thoughtful in your writings on DK and everywhere, and don’t treat being a woman as an insult.
Just don’t.
Linguists have actually determined that the majority of insults for men sprout from references to femininity...

So, when you decide to insult a man, be more thoughtful and more creative, use your smarts, and don’t imply he is feminine or a woman. Find some of the more creative and funny insults that are actually aimed at MEN — do not insult a man by implying he’s a woman. That’s just hurtful.
