Alexander Lukashenko didn’t wait very long to get the hell out of Dodge.
Reports say that Lukashenko — or at least his jet — flew to Russia, turned the transponder on his plane off and then turned it on again when he got to Turkey.
There are a lot of reports about this but it has not been confirmed. He hasn’t been seen in Turkey or anywhere else for that matter.
This is the same guy who had to leave a meeting in Moscow recently because he took seriously ill and was hospitalized. He might be on the plane or he might have just sent his family out of the country or maybe he’s flying all his stolen assets to a safe bank abroad. Maybe he decided his time on this planet is short and he wants to make sure his family is safe.
Who knows for sure at this point.
So this remains fluid, much like what is going on in Russia with Wagner.
But the main opposition leader in Belarus — and rightful president — Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya has noticed.
If Lukashenko has indeed flown the coop, it is not necessarily good news for the people of Belarus. There are thousands of Russian troops in Belarus and Putin could decide to just annex the country or install a more compliant puppet.
