So, Chris Licht is out. I wish that meant CNN was going to come back from the dead, but the same people are pulling the strings, so I think it's doubtful.
Really, who thought combining HBO, CNN and Discovery was a good idea? Each serves it's own audience, but there just isn't any overlap making the new organization more efficient.
Can we expect a new series embedding the Property Brothers with the Ukrainian military to rebuild Mariupol? A tearful reveal at the end of each hour of The Lead with Jake Tapper showing the beautiful end of each story covered? Or how about an HBO Series where the Red Tower is rebuilt in King's Landing with a different set of HGTV personalities working on each level.
I just don't get how this was anything but an attempt at a media monopoly. One that I expect to fail, because nobody in charge has the slightest idea of what they are doing.
You can argue that Licht was only doing what he was hired to do, but it doesn't really matter where the stupid ideas originate. They're still stupid.
There's still ine question I can't understand. How could Chris Licht have been Stephen Colbert’s show runner?
