WYFP: Some Independence Day

Well, I had a nice, fun diary planned but SCOTUS just crapped all over it yesterday.

I used to believe Justice Thomas would never think of overturning Loving vs. Virginia. I no longer believe that. He obviously feels he is a white man, married to a white woman and nothing can touch him, so screw everybody else. 

I’m a cis-gendered hetero white woman. As far as I know, I’ve never had to deal with discrimination.

Perhaps as a homeless person, I was turned down for work, but it wasn’t obvious. 

I’ve known or worked with LGBTQ, African American, LatinX and Asian people all of my life.

Diversity is the natural order of things. Segregation is the outlier. 

They are our countrymen, nevermind how you might feel about them, they are Americans who are entitled to the same rights as the richest white man in the land. 

This is going to put handcuffs on our colleges, students and eventually, our economy.

That our Supreme Court is even arguing that, let alone deciding nope, we’re officially going to put everyone in separate lanes with toll stations and you have to pay thru the nose to get further down the road. This is so unamerican, I can’t believe the building didn’t explode when the decision came down yesterday.  

Sigh.
