There are ads running on right-wing radio in New Hampshire building the case that Trump should not be the 2024 nominee. Some are ads for rival candidates; the latest I heard just this morning is for someone named Ryan Binkley, which is a name I’ve never heard before. It points out that the Republican nominee has not won more than 46% of the popular vote in a dog’s age, and accuses the party of failing to get its message across to suburbanites, ethnic minorities, and youth, among others. It even claims that Republicans aren’t fiscally conservative any more.
Of course, what it doesn’t want Republicans to do is change the substance of what they stand for, but merely to wrap their shit sandwich in a more appealing type of bread. And this Binkley person is described as a pastor, which doesn’t bode well.
There are other ads being run by some super PAC arguing that a vote for Trump in the Republican primary is effectively a vote for Joe Biden and the “radical progressive agenda” of the “Democrat Party”.
The primary is six months away, and the sharks already smell blood in the water. I’ve a feeling that Trump is going to be toast in New Hampshire, if not elsewhere. New Hampshire has never been a Trump stronghold, and voters there are notoriously fickle.
