Well this is not going to be a popular post. But this needs to be said. Anthony Oliver’s “Rich Men North of Richmond” is going on 30 million views and as of this posting still sits at #1 on the Itunes chart. Why?? Well I suggest checking out the reactions to this video
I have simply researched this to the bone trying to find some right wing conspiracy behind this. There isn’t one. This is Real. As the tweet alludes to just go on Youtube and watch the reactions across THE GLOBE, across Social barriers, across Cultural barriers, across Racial barriers. Now ask yourself when is the last time you have seen something provoke such a compelling Emotional reaction that it breaks down those barriers?? Yes there are some controversial lyrics but methinks some are protesting way too much. This transcends MAGA. This phenomenon is nothing new. And this music genre is indigenous to this region. It’s resonating with people because it is authentic and soulful. What is being missed is its message and you can see it in people’s reactions, that message is UNITY. We are all One. The emotions that this is provoking are universal, it hits at the archetypal center of the heart.
This is an artist that does not wish to see further division in this country. He had no idea this was going to be the most popular song in the world when he recorded it. Listen to this interview, Restoring this country's sense of Community. I believe what people are reacting to are the reactions of conservative influencers that were first on the scene. I don’t even think they knew this was going way beyond MAGA. Don’t let them take ownership of something that doesn’t belong to them. This belongs to everybody. I suggest people appreciate this moment for what it is. Go to Youtube and soak in the reactions it will touch your heart.
I do urge people to read this article from this indy country website “Saving Country Music”. It offers some great insight to what is going on how this is playing out in the music industry.
Please don't work with John Rich!
There. I said my peace.
