I have written about my favorite place to find Dragonflies. The 200+ ponds At the Research Station are home to: including Odonata.
Across from the entrance and sign, is a small clump of Kudzu. The sprawling plant was blooming and the air was thick with a grape jam smell.
There is a weather station next to the office building, because the environment is wild everywhere and should be measured.
There are places you might never expect to see a creature. Here’s an example (fringe of the demonstration pond).
There is one section of the Research area that is a swamp. I like sitting there for the interesting animals that come by. Here are a few videos showing the variety.

The Daily Bucket is a nature refuge. We amicably discuss animals, weather, climate, soil, plants, waters and note life’s patterns.
We invite you to note what you are seeing around you in your own part of the world, and to share your observations in the comments below.
Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the phenological patterns that are quietly unwinding around us. To have the Daily Bucket in your Activity Stream, visit Backyard Science’s profile page and click on Follow.

Believe it or not I have a Bug of the Day. Little Wood-Satyr — Megisto cymela. Named for their feeding habits of collecting nectar from trees and rotted mushrooms but, they will occasionally drink from flowering plants. Tiny and usually seen in the top of trees but will come down to cool off during the heat of the day.
This is an Open Thread. Feel free to submit your own observations.
