I’m a bit older than Joe Biden. I think there are a lot of really nice things to say about Joe that bear on his record as President.
I know his background. He and I share common experiences. We're Irish Catholic, middle class, Democratic Northeastern city boys born during WWII. He's a hardy old politician. I'm a hardy old arts & flowers guy.
We share important values and a slew of differences because, dammit, we're Democrats.
Joe Biden and I were born under the star of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, nurtured through the steady leadership of Harry Truman, once a vice-president and ready to take charge of the Executive when he had to, like LBJ was and Kamala Harris is today, experienced, prepared and ready to step in. Joe and I were both inspired by John and Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King.
The cynics and the sillies don't get it about Joe or Kamala.
He endures and learns in spite of them and his record of achievements in the face of smears, ridicule and indifference confounds his enemies. There must be some Deep State (or George Soros) running the show, they insist.
They'll never grow up, these 'conservatives'.
Age, race and gender issues will dominate what is already an oppressive political environment. It will be awful but we'll get through it and learn from it.
Think of it. Joe is grounded, decent, experienced. That's him.
But he was also vice president, like Kamala Harris is now. Democrats prepare to serve, and do serve.
The gop performs performances, anything but governance. Cults don't govern. Not yet.
