Have you all met Userexists? She offers sage advice and fun comments all over DKos. She radiates positivity. I mean, look at that smile!
UE got hit by bad long-term COVID, which resulted in disability. And since Republicans insist on making our government not work, or work poorly at best, the hearing for her disability application won’t happen for at least another year. User realized that her current living conditions were not sustainable, and decided to address that before it became a bottomless hole. So, she grabbed her resilience, her determination, her pragmatism, her creativity and cobbled together a plan. Not only a plan, but one that excites her!

She and her cat, Wheezer, are moving from their small apartment into a motorhome. (Sadly, Seeya passed away in August from kidney cancer.)
Userexists found a motorhome in good condition for a reasonable price. In July, User grabbed her courage and gumption and wrote her own fundraiser. And we all know how hard it is to ask people for help. The motorhome was purchased and dubbed “Wheelie-House”!
Since then, User has been diligently at work to change her circumstances.
.
.
So, here is the new home for this small DK family.
There were some repairs, maintenance and minor upgrades to be done.
The inside looks nice and is ready for company!
Userexists is close to making her down-scaling dreams come true. So close! And so, today, we are doing one last push to get her and Wheezer into Wheelie House! One last push!
So, here are the particulars: $1,445 to cover the list of musts
$430 -- Full servicing on Wheelie-House: oil change, chassis & engine lube, check all fluids & systems, and servicing the generator
$250 -- gas money to run stuff up to Ohio storage
$565 -- Sept rent (last rent, yay!!!!!)
$200 -- to fill gas & propane tanks
And $860 to cover the list of “would be nice to have”:
$280 - new windshield for Prius
$160 - 2 new tires for Prius (those & windshield are all it needs for inspection)
$340 - car insurance Oct - March
$80 - VA state parks pass
Bringing the total for today’s fundraiser to $2,305.

And now, Userexists wanted to post an update to her tale. So I’m handing the microphone over to her:
Hi all — as many of you know, my beautiful lovey-girl Seeya passed away on Wednesday, August 23rd. Wheezer and I were both deeply unhappy for a while (he still misses his Sissy, but he’s getting better), and so we grabbed our friend Val and ran away for a weekend in Wheelie-House. It was a great trip — we made some new friends, saw some gorgeous mountains, and just relaxed for 36 hours. Wheelie-House ran like a charm!
I’ve been posting Wheelie-House updates pretty often in the PWBPeeps diaries (see here, here, and here for assorted repair stories!), but one thing I wanted to mention is — remember I was worried about the slide? It was grinding and sticking and I was afraid the motor was dying. Well, no :-) Slides just need to be lubricated every so often. So I opened the slide, crawled under Wheelie-House (and we are NOT talking about how long it took me to get down there and back up again!!!), and gave both “tracks” a good thorough soaking. Ran the slide in an out a few times to spread the lubrication around and it is now working perfectly!
I also want to say a few quick thank yous!!! First to Sally DeLurks for hosting the final Wheelie-House fundraiser! Second of all, to the wonderful people who sent me presents from my Amazon wish-list (which OMG — is now EMPTY!! You guys ROCK!!!! I can’t wait to get the new awning & get it installed & post pictures for y’all!) And finally, foremost, and always, to every single person who helped make this happen.
I am SO excited to be launching into a whole new phase of my life!
I’m hoping to be able to get a Virginia State Parks pass (LOTS of great free camping spots!), but I did splurge and get a WMA pass for $30, which allows access to all Virginia’s Wildlife Management Areas, most of which allow RV camping, up to two weeks at a time, for free! How cool is that?
I won’t be able to do a lot of traveling, but I will get to take you guys on a few photo adventures around Virginia, as I can afford to! The rest of the time I will be happily parked just outside of Richmond at a friend’s house, snug and secure with my Wheezy-Beezy-boy under our very own roof, courtesy of the amazing community here at DK!
Please help, if you are able.
