So when Sis Dee let me know eeff was hurting, I did what any of us would do and said, “How can I help?”
eeff is the real deal, one who has been there for so many of us with his kindness and encouragement since he joined the site in 2004. He always lifts people up. Now it is our turn to lift him up.
As the photo above shows, eeff has worked hard all his life. That work and time have taken a toll.
eeff is hurting. Has been hurting for far too long. He needs both knees replaced in order to be able to walk without pain again, do anything without pain again. I have friends who have had knees replaced and it is life changing. In a very real way, those surgeries provide a return to freedom. A freedom to move. To live. And eeff has much to live for, including a beautiful grandnephew. He wants to be there for him. We can help make that happen.
His first surgery is scheduled for the 21st of this month. His second knee replacement will follow. He is basically going to be out of work and recovering for at least four months.
Like so many of us, it took a lot for eeff to ask for help. eeff is old school. He’s used to working hard, to making things happen. He has been the one to take care of things. But he can’t fix this.

How much pain should a person deal with walking? I can still walk without a walker or cane. But it hurts every step I take. I don't want to stand in one place.
I am trying to get myself to go to work. I stand up and just sit back down on the bed.

I’ll get up soon and make a place on the trailer for a battery today. Yesterday I mounted the wench, by the time I finished I could barely walk. There is no place like my bed these days!! I need to work 3 hours & rest my knees 3 hours, haven’t got that worked out !! I’ll get up 10ish and go do that battery box.
Monday Lamar at work brought in a walker his mother used for hip surgery. I could have used that today! It works great at work. Makes a difference using it!
Now I am wide awake, the house sucks, no insulation! The ceiling is because I got it done. the floor & walls I don’t think have any. This place has gas appliances, I will not turn the gas on. the two space heaters are doing a decent job. it’s 68 inside. my last electric bill was 100 bucks!
I am chilly sitting at the computer, get in bed & it’s cold! takes about 5 minutes for the body to warm it up. then I am hot! LOL gonna be a long night rolling around under the blanket!
I did 34 hours at Pro Fab last week, I hope to match that this week. Those friggen bills don’t care about my knees!! LOL
I need one more nap before I go struggle working. Some how I do it. Yesterday I was doing repetition work standing in one place, when I got done it took me 10 minute to get my knees to work again. I am using a walker which helps so much!! I should have started using that sooner. This is one hell of a learning experience!!
He needs our help to have the surgeries and then to heal. He needs our help to make sure he can get to follow up doctor appointments. It’s not just eeff’s legs that aren’t working. His truck needs help and his washer broke. He needs our help just to be warm.
Consequently, I’m setting the goal higher than what eeff asked for — $7000.
The medical deductible for surgery is $2800.
Prescription costs — $560.
Medical supplies — $375
I want eeff to be able to heat his house while he heals, have a reliable vehicle to get to the doctors, and fix his washer. Given that he is facing back to back surgeries and will be out of work for a minimum of four months, the goal of $7000 is crucial to help him through.
I have no doubt we can reach that goal. Every donation will make it so. There is no such thing as a small donation. Each dollar matters.
