Greetings and welcome to another bit of Marko-mellow fluff, another little open thread ready to romp in. Or rather, it will be ready once I get these pictures uploaded and posted—
This week I've got some photos from a trip Mrs the Werelynx and I took to the Czech town of Trutnov during the winter holidays.
Trutnov is a cozy, little city of around thirty thousand people, north east of Prague, near the Polish border. The area had already been occupied for centuries before the first written accounts of Trutnov appeared in 1260. One legend of the city's founding has it that two men were sent to find a suitable site for a stone quarry and a lime furnace in order to begin producing building materials for the new city. Wouldn't you know it, the site they chose was guarded by a dragon. Great trials and clever stratagems finally overcame the beast and construction could begin.
This legend is why you find a dragon in the town's crest and gives the locals an excuse to hold a dragon festival every year.
We weren't there for the festival, but you might see a few dragons in my photos nonetheless.
Thanks for stopping by.
