A call for Tom Keen just now made my day.

I am “half-fluent” in Spanish, so I welcome any chance to practice. I’m doing phone-banking for Tom Keen today in the special election in HD-35. I reached a woman who said she didn’t speak English. I asked, “Hablas español?’ She said yes and I told her in Spanish about the special election. (She understood my half-fluent Spanish.) I don’t think she was otherwise aware of the election. She asked what time the polls closed (7 pm) and said she was going to vote.

Generally I reached a lot more people than usual.

So a two-fer. Probably one more vote for Keen, and Spanish practice for me!
