NH Primary Write-in Campaign Launched for ‘Ceasefire’

On Wednesday, a grassroots effort was launched urging critics of the Biden Administration’s support for Israel’s war in Gaza to vote for “Ceasefire.”
Vote Ceasefire, a newly formed grassroots group, is calling on New Hampshire primary voters to vote ‘Ceasefire’ as a write-in candidate “to draw attention to the urgent need to stop the violence in Palestine in the Middle East,” announced Rachel Rybaczuk, who moderated a news conference held over Zoom.
The NH Democratic Primary is already in a very odd position, given that President Biden decided not to put his name on the ballot here. The national Democratic Party has disqualified the NH primary because they want to recognize South Carolina first. However, state laws require our Secretary of State to schedule our presidential primaries before any other state’s primary. More on that here: apnews.com/…
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire’s attorney general on Monday ordered national Democratic party leaders to stop calling the state’s unsanctioned presidential primary “meaningless,” saying doing so violates state law.
The cease-and-desist notice came three days after the co-chairs of the Democratic National Committee’s rules committee told New Hampshire party leaders to “educate the public that January 23rd is a non-binding presidential preference event and is meaningless.” In a letter to Chairman Ray Buckley, they also called the primary “detrimental” and said “non-compliant processes can disenfranchise and confuse voters.”
We have a campaign in NH backed by many party leaders to “Write In Biden.” In the midst of such ironies, writing in “Ceasefire” may be one of the more straightforward choices on the ballot.
