NOTE:
Hey guys, I have been sick as a dog since I switched out autoimmune meds, but I promise to respond to comments as soon as I can. I am not ignoring you. Love you!
In our latest episode of As the Stomach Churns, we discover that Nathan Wade’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Joycelyn Wade, coordinated with co-conspirator Mike Roman and his attorney Ashleigh Merchant, to weaponize Joycelyn’s divorce proceedings against D.A. Fani Willis.
This wouldn't be the first time so-called Law-and-Order Republicans would seek to dethrone Willis.
Jim “never-hears-a-sexual-assault-Who” Jordon tried his best to prod Fani into coming to DC to engage in his fake-as-hell fishing expedition. Fani told that boy to sit down—politely and respectfully, of course.
The GA GOP then went after and tried to remove her, and to Kemp’s credit (I am giving him a small hand clap and a tiny hero cookie for doing the right thing), he said no dice and allowed Fani to continue.
Now Republicans have decided to trot out a well-worn but often effective weapon often used against women—spread her business out in the streets in an effort to shame and defame her. Sadly, despite the lack of an ethical violation regarding the accusation, it could work.
Thankfully, the D.A. firebrand has forcibly pushed back against her accusers:
Fulton County DA Fani Willis has filed a new motion to quash her testimony in divorce proceedings of one of her senior special prosecutors, Nathan Wade, in the Trump RICO case and alleges that Trump criminal RICO and election interference co-conspirator Mike Roman has conspired with the ex-wife of on with and undermine the pending criminal prosecution of Trump and the others, by seeking to have Wade’s three-year-old divorce proceeding unsealed, and to have DA Willis give a sworn deposition in the case.
This rapidly moving story began with a filing earlier this month of a motion to disqualify and dismiss the criminal indictment by Roman based on the salacious, but unsupported charge that DA Willis was in an after-hours relationship with Mr. Wade. The motion, citing no supporting case law or purported rule of ethics violated, and citing no element of the prosecution that is comprised by their alleged relationship, seeks to not only disqualify Ms. Willis and Mr. Wade but have the indictment dismissed as well.
…
As a remedy, DA Willis is requesting that the Court overseeing the divorce not only enter an order to prevent her deposition from being taken and awarding her attorneys’ fees, but that if the Court denies the motion, that it permit the DA’s office 6 month’s time to "complete a review .. [and] … .investigate and depose relevant witnesses with regard to the interference and obstruction" between Roman, Wade’s ex-wife and presumably others, that could include Trump. But even if the divorce court does not allow such an investigation, it is highly likely that DA Willis has already opened up a criminal investigation into Roman and his possible coordination with the Trump team to corruptly obstruct justice and destabilize the DA Office’s prosecution.

Defamation of character—the oldest weapon in the GOP arsenal
On any given day, we can peek into the windows of any family and find dirt. If you don’t see it immediately, it is there; just dig deeper.
How do I know?
Because we are all human, no one is perfect, and that leads to tons of bullshit drama
Don’t get me wrong, if this were a real case—like, we found Fani was pocketing government funds, killing people, sleeping with Judge McAfee, or hopping in bed with jurors—I would regretfully say she needs to step down.
But the accusation is that she is romantically involved with Wade, which, even if true—is not against the law and has no impact on a case moved forward by two grand juries.
Rethuglicans are trouting out Ye Olde Scarlet Letter ( See Nancy Mace; this is the appropriate time to make such comparison) to call attention to what may not even be a romantic dalliance.
Joycelyn Wade has an ax to grind
Speaking of a woman scorned, it appears ex Joycelyn Wade, who previously agreed to keep the divorce dirt secret in 2022, wants to unseal the information all of a sudden.
This is despite the fact that she slept with her ex’s best friend.
This, even though she previously asked to keep the contents of their divorce secret.
You see, Joycelyn made a move to unseal the contents of their divorce and make them public on January 8, 2023, the exact date Mike Roman and this attorney Ashleigh Merchant made a move to bring up charges against Fani for prosecutorial misconduct.
In other words, it would appear Mike Roman, instead of wisely taking a plea deal, believes weaponizing Nathan Wade's divorce is his best bet. His Hail Mary Pass is a play he hopes will not only get his own charges dismissed but also dismantle the RICO case altogether.
The glaring issue, of course, is that if such a play succeeds, people will be trying to use the salacious details of prosecutors’ lives to dismiss cases in the future. This will, in turn, further weaponize the flaws and foibles of human beings. Even when questionable, horrible traits or judgments that have no impact on a legal case or a lawyer's ability to do their job should never be used in a court of law.
I hate to say this, as it has become a trope in the era of Trump, but that kind of thing is the very definition of a slippery slope; however, don’t tell that to MAGA Dirt Rag, The New York Post.
The Yellow Journalism ran thick as the details about Mike Roman and his attorney, Ashleigh Merchant’s, coordination with Jocelyn Wade emerged—lovely title below, eh?
Trump prosecutor Fani Willis faces hearing on misconduct claims, tries to weasel out of grilling by alleged lover’s ex-wife
Roman, who served as Trump’s director of Election Day operations in 2020, called for the judge to disqualify the entire prosecution team because of the alleged affair.
“…The District Attorney chose to appoint her romantic partner, who at all times relevant to this prosecution has been a married man,” Roman claimed in court papers.
He also accused Wade — a private attorney with the Atlanta-based Wade & Campbell Firm — of using some of the nearly $654,000 in legal fees he collected from the Fulton County DA’s Office for his work on the Trump case to take Willis on vacations to “California, Florida and the Caribbean.”
Willis’ lawyers also made a filing in the divorce case between Wade and his estranged wife, Joycelyn Wade, which has been ongoing since 2021.
The article references the term “alleged affair” because the romantic liaison itself has not been proven, nor has any evidence been presented—yet NYP uses language throughout their reporting like “weasel out” to suggest Fani keeping her private life private is some kind of smoking gun.
Keep it classy filthy and disgusting MAGA News Rag.
Right or wrong, none of this is our business—none of it
If personal matters need hammering out, allow all involved parties to do it between themselves. True or not, this seems to be a relationship quagmire that belongs behind closed doors.
Problem is, salacious TV shows where people sit around and dish about the dirty laundry happening within interpersonal relationships are so prevalent that people think they are owed a peek into everyone's bedrooms.
They are not.
On any given day, BS is happening in professional people’s worlds. This fact only matters if individuals conduct themselves inappropriately, hypocritically, or fail to do their jobs.
I mean, we’re not talking about Wade having sex with a porn star while Joycelyn was at home with a newborn, hanging out with child abusers and thirteen-year-old models, or sexually assaulting women in department stores here.
Just saying.
