I haven’t left my apartment in about a week. I’m glad the ice rain is going to be over. However, I’ve been keeping up with the local news, and I’ve neither lost power nor had my water pipes freeze.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

My appointment with orthopedics ended up being by Zoom. The result was about what I expected, which was since I don’t want surgery, I should get appointments with a physical therapist. I did that a few hours later, and lucked out with some cancellations — the PA in Orthopedics seemed to understand how I would want to know all of my possible options up front, even if I didn’t want to use them right away. He showed me the x-ray of my right hip (though not the left one).
The appointment to get my ears cleaned out is postponed to February 28th. I’m not looking forward to another five weeks of life at half-volume, but my daughter had a point when she mentioned the risk of sliding off the hill. I used to work on Pill Hill — I know entirely well how steep and narrow and twisty the roads are.
The phone in my bedroom does not appear to enjoy cold temperatures. It’s warming up, and the phone is working again.
The weather has kept the Portland Public Schools closed all week. They still have another six days to make up from the strike as well. I suspect school will run a week longer than originally planned.
My chiropractic visit is to be rescheduled when I call in on Tuesday. Things are warming up, and I am intending to go to the dentist tomorrow as scheduled.
Some unexpected arrivals today. I got my newest dragon t-shirt: I’m not a bookworm, I’m an escape artist. I also got the Crio Bru I ordered, and sweats and biker shorts I wasn’t expecting till next week.
