“What we’re doing here in North Carolina is one piece of a much bigger story," he said. He said he was keeping his promise to be a president for all America, whether you voted for me or not."
Biden talked about all the people who need high-speed internet because they work from home, businesses who need it to reach customers and students who need to do their school work.
Errors and undercounts in the evaluation of targeted departments leave professors skeptical and frustrated
When Dana Logan saw the long-awaited list of programs UNC Greensboro may eliminateearlier this week, she was stunned to see her own Religious Studies department on the list of suggested cuts.
More stunning, the professor said, was seeing Chancellor Frank Gilliam’s message included a note that her department only had just four students pursuing majors. In fact, it has 24.
“It was just a bald-faced error,” Logan said. “It could have been a mistake in their messaging. They were so sloppy in that announcement. But now I’m terrified they actually used those numbers in the evaluation. And why shouldn’t I think that? So that is absolutely the question we’re asking ourselves.”
Logan isn’t alone.
Within hours of Gilliam’s message about the 19 at-risk programs, professors and department heads had identified multiple errors in the specifics of the list, which credited some programs with dozens fewer student majors than they actually have.
A total solar eclipse is coming to the U.S. this April in what's being touted as the biggest astronomical phenomenon for many Americans since the August 2017 total eclipse.
A total solar eclipse, one of nature's most spectacular sights, is coming to North America on April 8.
Weather permitting, it will be visible on a path from Mexico through Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine before venturing into eastern Canada.
For many Americans, the event will be one of the the biggest astronomical phenomenons since the August 2017 total eclipse.
In October of 2023, there was an annular solar eclipse where the path extended over the northwest and southwest U.S. The eclipse coming in April 2024 will make for a compelling sight that reveals the Sun's corona in an unusually darkened sky.
"I've been talking about this one for years," said NASA Ambassador Tony Rice. "It's going to be the highlight of the year."
