Florida has 30 electoral votes. If Trump were to win by any amount under 300 (270 is the threshold needed to become President), then assuming Florida’s Electors voted for Trump they cannot vote for DeSantis and he would not be able to become Vice President.
In this scenario (a moderately close election), first isn’t clear what Gov. DeSantis brings to the table, but if the election is close then he’s simply dead weight.
True, the Electors could split between the two of them (say half votes for Trump, other half votes for DeSantis — the ones not voting would have to throw away their votes to, say, Mickey Mouse if that’s even legal in Florida), but that path involves some ego by the guy who would lose those votes.
Poor Ron is going to have a sad. The other part is after 2026, he’s term limited as Governor and will have a fork sticking out of his back because I can’t see who will elect him to anything after that.
Can’t see him as a used car salesman, either.
