A sweet female dog was going to be euthanized at a kill shelter today due to a badly broken leg in need of surgery. The shelter estimated she’s about two-years-old.
My wife saw a local Nashville post about a sweet stray who was hit by a car on a rainy night 2 weeks ago, which is how her leg was fractured in multiple places (pic below).
A good Samaritan took her to a local vet here in the Nashville area who put a temporary splint on her leg, but he had his techs take her to the local kill shelter in case someone was looking for her. No one was looking for her. She’s been in the shelter for 2 weeks with little pain relief provided. No cone, soft bandage and splint found off and covered in urine and feces in one shelter note about a week in.
The shelter would only release her to a nonprofit 501(c)3 rescue, and only then if they could prove they would provide for her medical needs. It’s been touch and go for several days.
After contacting over 20 rescues, none of which had the funds to pay for an orthopedic surgeon and follow up medical expenses, a rescue group named Pittie In Pink got her out of the shelter, just in time, after my wife promised we’d try to raise funds for her surgery.
My wife set up a GoFundMe for her medical care. .
Tax deductible donations go directly from GoFundMe to their 501(c)3 nonprofit rescue organization.
Donations of any size and/or social media shares will be greatly appreciated.
The vet the good Samaritan who found her took her to did the bare minimum. She’s going to need surgery and rehab, especially since it’s been basically untreated for two weeks.
Pittie In Pink (rescue) won’t know the cost until the orthopedic surgeon evaluates her current condition, but it’ll be at least $4000 based on new information. I apologize for the change from the original fundraising goal I set, but I’m just someone trying to help this poor girl and haven’t had to have orthopedic surgery on one of my fur kids. Chemo, TPLO, etc etc Yes.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
And special thanks to Pittie In Pink and all you fellow animal lovers for being in her corner!
I’ll update after she’s had her surgery. For now, she’s safe in a foster home. She’ll be seeing an orthopedic surgeon ASAP at Nashville Veterinary Specialists, a top notch facility here in Nashville.
