Problem solved, I got credit on Amazon and ordered a chromebook and a mouse. It should be here next Tuesday. I appreciate all the advice and help. Special thanks to JH and JA, who each sent me $25 toward the purchase, that covers my first payment on the chromebook.
So I’m in a bit of a bind. My computer has been limping along the last year or so (it’s 2 years old) and now it’s being really weird of late — so I think the magic blue smoke might come out of it soon. I’m working on my grad school application and just plain need a computer to function, I spend most days I’m not at the lab in front of my computer. I am on a fixed income and have maxed out all my credit cards, so buying one, even used is not an option for me. Mum is in a cash crunch too, as the aerator on the septic tank needs repair, so she can’t splash for one either. I don’t need a super fancy top of the line laptop, just one that will let me take notes in class without being plugged in and enough of a video card I can play my games. (mostly old games, like Sims4 and resource managers) I would like a 1Tb HD though, I write a lot to begin with, not counting school.
I looked at what is on sale at Costco, and they have a couple that would work in the $750-$800 range. Several people mentioned getting a Chrome book for about $250, and it seems like that would be a fine solution, and I could keep this one going for games and non school stuff. That seems like a fortune to me honestly. Anything donated would be strictly for the laptop fund, I haven’t got any past due bills or anything on the side. But being without a computer is pretty much social/mental death for me, I need to be able to check my sites (like here) and email and KOSmail my friends, as I don’t have local friends really.
All funds donated will be tallied here, for transparency.
So, yeah. Could you help me get a replacement laptop, please?
Thanks,
