“ I was a union buster” Haley said. “I didn’t want to bring in companies that were unionized simply because I didn’t want to have that change the environment in our state.”
Ever since the Republican Party threw in the towel when it abandoned Reconstruction, the sole reason for the continued existence of the Republican Party has been to serve the wealthy and screw the working class. Within the Republican Party the competition to be the most hurtful to workers has always been fierce. Among the Republican presidential candidates there is one candidate who clearly stands out in being the most anti-labor union candidate-Nikki Haley.
Before Haley was even sworn in as governor of South Carolina in 2011, she announced that she would be appointing a “union avoidance” lawyer to run the South Carolina Department of Labor. Haley’s goal was to battle the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers (AIM) ands other labor unions. In one of her “state of the state “ speeches she went on a more than three minute rant against labor unions.
Democratic and Republican governors do everything that they can to entice any company to invest in their state and offer incentives to attract these investments that will create good paying jobs. Haley stands alone by stating that she does not want jobs coming to South Carolina if they were union jobs, saying, “We do not want to taint the water.”
When AIM tried to organize the Boeing plant in North Charleston, Haley ran radio ads urging Boeing workers not to form a labor union. “ AIM is back, and they want to take away a piece of your success. Please don’t let them.” When Haley ‘s time as governor was over, Boeing rewarded her by giving her a seat on Boeing’s Board of Directors paying her $256,322 which included $135,000 in stock. Is there any wonder why Wall Street is keeping Haley’s presidential campaign alive?
More recently she criticized the UAW for being greedy during their strike against the Big 3 automakers. Haley attacked Biden saying, ”“When you have a president that ‘s constantly saying ‘go union, go union” this is what you get.”
Haley has said that she is proud of her record of fighting against labor unions in South Carolina. Commenting on Organized Labor’s attempts at fighting back against Haley said, All it does is it makes my heels taller, my heels sharper so that I can kick harder,'
The Mainstream New Media has been totally silent about Haley’s crusade against labor unions. All they have told us is that she wears high heels and has momentum. Their definition of momentum is coming in last in what was essentially a three person race in Iowa and last in a two person race in New Hampshire. So much for momentum.
If you live in a state that allows registered Democrats or Independents to vote in a Republican primary, ignore the news media’s love affair with Nikki Haley. Do not under any circumstances vote for the proud union buster, Nikki Haley. We should all support the true champion of the working class, Joe Biden.
