Well, another couple of days, 8 stories, and a letter to the editor in the Seattle Times.
Good news (sort of, unless Boeing blows it again): The MAX 9 is back in the air today. These will be the "first few planes" that have passed final inspections to date. Along with how to tell if your planned flight is on a MAX 9 and info on Alaska’s current refund/light change policy if you want to change to a different model.
Boeing is pausing production at Renton for a day in safety 'stand down'. The article says they will take 15 hours today — maybe to overlap first and second shift teams, since part of the problem may be lack of coordination for work that crosses shifts(?).
The MAX 7 is facing strong opposition to a safety exemption for the engine anti-ice system, and Southwest has taken the MAX 7 out of its plans for 2024.
Alaska Airlines holds Boeing accountable and wants to be made whole for $150 million in losses.
Alaska CEO Ben Minicucci is still PO'd at Boeing. David Koenig of AP also wrote about this and the Seattle Times reprinted it.
The hilarious SNL skit got a lot of attention.
Sen. Maria Cantwell will hold congressional hearings on the debacle.
And, finally — a pithy letter to the editor titled Boeing: Change principals, principles.
