Help out Farmer Darrin
This is a request to provide some assistance to a small scale dairy framer in the middle of north central Indiana. Darrin is a third generation farmer in Macy, Indiana who provides raw milk (for pets, not for human consumption - it is clearly labeled on all of the glass bottles). The milk from his girls is distributed to Food Co-ops and individuals across Northern Indiana.
His operation is basically him and a few local workers. In speaking with him over the last 5-6 years, he personally is involved in or does every aspect of the cow-to-market operation. In discussing is use of GLASS MILK BOTTLES (very old school and ecologically oriented) he informed me that all glass bottles are cleaned by hand. He also personally delivers all product across Indiana. This includes delivery and pick of bottles to the Co-ops and individual houses. FYI - He delivers milk to my door every week sometime around 7 PM. It takes most of the day to run the route is his truck.
Darrin was involved in an accident just before Christmas. He was pinned beneath his truck for some time. At the same time, his skid loader (sometimes referred to as a front end loader) broke down. This has required him to manually carry feed and manually clean out bedding (mucking).
One of his other customers/friends started a GoFundMe page to help get his skid loader repaired. This will help a rural small farmer who provides a niche commodity get back to delivering his milk across Indiana. Small farms are just like every other small business, they don’t have large sums of cash laying around.
So if you have a little generosity and want to help a number of communities in Northern Indiana, please send a little donation his way.

PS. Macy, Indiana is about an hour drive from my location (South Bend) so he spends at least 2 hours driving to, and from, his farm to serve his St. Joseph County customers.
Thank you 🙏
