It is important to know before you read what follows is that Harrison Butker is the great field goal kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs. He was an important player in the Chiefs’ victory.
It has been fascinating to read Josh Hawley on the Super Bowl and especially after the Chiefs, who play in Missouri (but Hawley lives in Virginia), won.
Two days ago, the Kansas City Star had an article on how the Senators from Missouri and Kansas are supporting the Chiefs and their views on Kelce-Swift relationship. Only Marshall from Kansas has a comment on the conspiracy theories about Kelce-Swift:
He dismisses the fringe conspiracy theory that Swift and Kelce are a psychological operation launched by the government to get President Joe Biden reelected.
Schmitt from Missouri:
Sen. Eric Schmitt, Missouri’s junior Republican, is happily supporting the couple and thinks the Chiefs will win by 7 points, 27 to 20. “I love great American romance,” Schmitt said.
And, Hawley:
He declined to share his thoughts on the Swift-Kelce romance.
The tweets from Hawley both before and after the game are fascinating. First, look at this tweet from Schmitt after the game:
Now look at some of Hawley’s tweets. Before the game:
After the game:
Hawley then retweeted this:
Harrison Butker kicked the longest field goal in Super Bowl history last night. His performance was crucial for the Chiefs win. He also appears to be MAGA.
First, there is his relationship COVID vaccination. During the 2021 season, Chiefs' Harrison Butker: Placed on COVID-19 list.
Butker was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday after testing positive for the virus.
Butker was one of a handful of Chiefs players to be deactivated Monday due to a positive COVID-19 tests.
Second, he is outspoken about his “pro-life” position. Chiefs’ Kicker Harrison Butker is Proudly Pro-Life: ‘I Want to Give Voice to the Unborn’ This is a link to a Focus on the Family article on February 9, 2024, so click it at your peril.
From the article, you shouldn’t click on:
Last year, following the Chiefs’ win at the Super Bowl, Harrison Butker joined his team for a visit to the White House. He opted to use the opportunity to promote the cause of life.
Butker wore a tie with the phrase “Vulnerari Praesidio” written in cursive on it – the phrase is Latin, and it translates to “Protect the most vulnerable.” Pro-life group Live Action, founded by activist Lila Rose, designed the tie specifically for Butker’s White House visit.
…….
Butker has also urged his fellow citizens to protect preborn life at the ballot box – specifically by voting in favor of Kansas’ Value Them Both Amendment which would have declared the Kansas constitution does not guarantee a right to abortion. The measure failed in 2022.
Josh Hawley, the Senator who represents Missouri but lives in Virginia, clearly knows that his good friend is the most important Chief (because of his political views?) See the proposed resolution. Mahomes makes for a good supporting player apparently. (I’m sure the voting was rigged so that Mahomes, and not Butker, was the MVP of the game.)
Someone who didn’t get vaccinated and couldn’t play several games is a team unto himself, just like the good good Senator. That makes him a good friend.
