Missouri Republican opposes rape and incest exemptions because '1-year-olds' would get abortions

Since June 2022, Missouri has had a “near-total” ban on abortions, with the procedure permitted only in case of medical emergencies. Amid debate about Planned Parenthood funding, Democrats tried to add an amendment to add rape and incest exceptions to the abortion ban, but it was defeated.

So Democrats tried again, this time with an amendment for rape and incest exceptions for patients under 12. One guy stood up to fight it: state Sen. Bill Eigel, who said the bill would open the door for 1-year-olds to get more abortions.

Now, we all know that 1-year-olds can’t get pregnant. But if they could, why would anyone want to force them to give birth?

It’s worth noting that Eigel is currently running for governor. 

If that doesn’t piss you off, then this will. Another Republican, state Sen. Sandy Crawford, justified voting against the rape and incest amendments because “God is perfect. God does not make mistakes. And for some reason he allows that to happen — bad things happen,” she preached, before adding “I’m not gonna be able to support the amendments because I am very pro-life.”
