My grandkids have a cousin on their father’s side who was born on February 29th. She’s almost twelve years old, though only just coming up on her third birthdate.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

The Tarim Basin mummies in China turn out to have deep roots in the area. Culturally, they may have been quite different from others in that part of the world, genetically, it seems, not so much.
The Macintosh computer was released at the end of January forty years ago. All my friends laughed at my reaction to the initial TV commercials (“Drool, slaver, MINE!”). Yes, I spelled ‘slaver’, the synonym of ‘drool’, correctly — I’ve looked it up many a time.
They thought it was a piece of carved ivory artwork from about 37000 years ago. Further investigations suggest it’s a tool for making rope.

The grandkids have both been sick this past week. Recovered enough to give me a hand with further chores, but nasty colds both of them.
Almost finished with the bathroom. New showerhead and non-skid strips were done on Saturday, after I got home from the chiropractor. Still have to redo the grab bar that I’m using for a towel bar.
The over-the-door shoe rack I’ve had for several years has started to fall apart, so I bought a different one. That needed to be put together and then hung in place so I could get my shoes off of my bed. My grandkids put the thing together and got it up on the door where the first one had been. I moved my shoes myself.
The exercise the physical therapist gave me that’s helped the most has turned out to be one I can do on the return when my bladder wakes me up in the middle of the night.
