I just read SCOTUS decision to hear Drumpf’s immunity claim in the Jan 6 case before Judge Chutkan.
All the legal eagles on MSNBC are saying that it also creates a “stay” for the documents case before Judge Cannon.
But that can’t be the case as the granting of certiorari was narrowed to deciding if certain acts that are alleged to be protected by Presidential immunity TOOK PLACE DURING THE TENURE OF THE PRESIDENT.
By definition there was no crime alleged during POTUS tenure and the charges relate to Drumpf’s conduct after the official transfer of power to Biden.
So the issue being decided by SCOTUS has no bearing on the case before Judge Cannon given the narrow question being decided.
What am I missing?
