This is a call to action. This is also a rant. Bear with me please.
I know everyone here is tired of one Donald J. Trump. I’m tired of him, the threat he poses to America, and his increasingly dangerous words and antics. I want nothing more than to return to my prior life where I didn’t care so deeply about politics. Sadly, until the danger of MAGA has passed, we are stuck on perpetual status alert to protect our nation from our #1 domestic terrorist threat.
Public Enemy #1 for our democracy.
IT IS UP TO EVERYONE WHO IS AGAINST TRUMP TO SAVE THE NATION.
We cannot rely on Congress. The GOP abdicated their duty already by failing to convict Trump for 1/6. The 1/6 committee did their duty, but unfortunately the investigations and hearings died when the GOP took control of the House. Wresting control of Congress back is important, but they are sworn in too late to save us.
We cannot rely on the Department of Justice. I’ve defended Merrick Garland before, but it is clear that he was the WORST Cabinet pick made in a list of stellar selections by the Biden-Harris administration. It should never have gotten to this point — the gears of justice ground WAY TOO SLOWLY for the criminals responsible for 1/6.
We cannot rely upon the courts. The strongest case, the classified documents one, is in a courtroom with a Trump-appointed hack. The Georgia election interference case has gone off the rails thanks to a clueless judge who let the defense railroad the prosecutor. The Extreme Court just gave Trump the delay he needed for the 1/6 case until after the election. The NY hush money case won’t move the needle in the way the other three would.
We cannot rely on the military preventing him from absolute power. If it gets to that point where a coup or military takeover is necessary, we’ve already lost our democracy. Besides, such an action would likely prompt a civil war in this nation.
We cannot rely on businesses to stand against Trump. Many of them are already in his corner, and the rest don’t want to risk losing money or customers by crossing him. Businesses only care about the bottom line — saving democracy doesn’t figure into their balance sheets.
Our institutions have failed us, and they will not save us from Trump.
Thus, we have to save America ourselves. We’ve got to vote the GOP out of power up and down the ballot for their sedition against the nation we hold dear. But voting is not enough now. It is the least someone against Trump can do. I’m calling for people here to do more if possible. Step off the sidelines and act as if your life is in great peril — because it truly may well be.

- Run for a local office. I’m not suggesting you run for Congress or even the state legislature. But there are school boards and other local offices that need solid people that can do their jobs. It’s either that or leave them to the local MAGA contingent. Run For Something is a great way to get started with your quest for elected office.
- Donate to people and causes you believe in. It can be as wide as the Democratic Party or as narrow as President Joe Biden. You can donate to organizations fighting the good fight as well. I run a fundraising article every Wednesday, and Brainwrap has an extensive list of people to donate to as well. Just be ready for the tsunami of political spam.
- Volunteer for a local campaign. If you have time instead of money, considering volunteering for a local campaign. Campaigns need everything from paid staffers to unpaid door knockers and text bankers. Inquire at a local Democratic Party office to see what is needed and play to your strengths.
- Write about our candidates, or about Biden-Harris admin success stories. Instead of writing about Trump 24/7, how about promoting a candidate in your area through writing a diary? Instead of writing about the latest zaniness in the GOP, why not write about the successes of Biden-Harris? GoodNewsRoundup writes a Boosting Biden diary every weekday. I write a spotlight on a key Congressional race every Sunday morning. Support those efforts!
- Persuade people on social media or in person. Social media these days is not for the faint of heart, but it is where people now get their news. How about boosting the messaging of the Democratic Party and their candidates on it? If you know someone sitting on the fence about 2024, persuade them to vote for Joe Biden. Don’t bother with MAGA, most of them are a lost cause.

I know I went through all 5 stages of grief when I heard that the Extreme Court took the Trump immunity case. It feels like Trump will never be brought to justice at this rate. But we have to play the long game, and do everything in our power to keep Trump away from absolute power. This tweet sums up the stakes perfectly:
