So, I wrote in this post, Rebuilding After the Fire, that my apartment building caught on fire. I mentioned two things of note:
1. My apartment didn't catch on fire itself; the firemen managed to stop the fire before it reached mine, but the smoke damage was massive, so that was something.
2. My cats were stuck in the apartment for 2 1/2 days, and one of them, Katerina, happened to have major conjunctivitis and missed nine doses of her medication--not to mention the smoke.
Well, the piper is being paid in regards to those two things. Since my last post, I have learned that as waivers of liability need to be signed in order to enter my apartment, no movers will enter. And the smoke smell is still intense, to move anything and be there for the amount of time TO move things out for friends/family would be too risky. So, in other words, I truly have lost all of my furniture even though it wasn't "technically" destroyed by fire. Honestly, I feel rather stupid for not even realizing that, to begin with, but I've never gone through anything like this before.
And the second, sigh. Katerina's eye is not getting any better. It's gotten worse. I woke up very early on Saturday morning to a damp carpet in spots. I turned the light on, and there were bloody drops there. I found her and with even the slightest move, more blood dripped from her eye. I brought her into the bathroom and cleaned her eye up as best as I could, but there was so much blood.
I was able to get her into the vet that day, but it was as I feared. They have to remove the eye. My poor baby girl. I have linked to pictures of her before and after. Her eye is truly gruesome, and I don't want to force anyone to see it without a warning.
Katerina (Before) | Katerina (after)
So, a difficult situation financially has become that much worse. The cost of taking care of Katerina's eye, and having to replace all of my furniture has risen. Any help would be truly appreciated.
