Like most of the country, we had April weather in February, not just a day of it but weeks with temperatures reaching into the 80s, at a time when we should have cold and snow. And like last year, we had a serious freeze last week, 17° F, with a heavy dusting of snow. That temperature won’t harm daffodils. They’ll freeze, thaw, and go on blooming. Trees that had leaf buds that froze will replace those leaves. It’s the blooms that produce the fruits of the trees that won’t be replaced. Last year I had almost no black walnuts, and I didn’t see any acorns at all.
Spring chorus frogs are out and so loud it’s almost deafening. Two red-tailed hawks were screeching overhead at me yesterday. Here’s what I’m seeing where I live as we move into March.
Is the weather out of sync where you live, too?
