Some of you know that I’m slightly obsessed with the Popsugar Reading Challenge: read 1 book for each of 50 categories, which change every year. I’ve made a good start, and have been reviewing one per week on my obscure website. I have other prompts matched with books on my TBR pile, or at least a good idea for some categories. There are always a few where I either have no idea, or so many options that I don’t know where to start.
But first, a word from our sponsor!

What books would y’all recommend for these?
A book from an animal’s point of view. I’ve already read The Call of the Wild and Silver Wolf , and a few of Rita Mae Brown’s Mrs. Murphy mysteries.
A book originally published under a pen name. I have CJ Cherryh’s Tripoint on my shelf, though that’s just barely a pen name (allegedly, Carolyn Cherry was told her real name sounded too much like a romance author rather than SF).
A book that came out in a year that ends in 24. Anything new this year that you love?
A book that features dragons. I’m leaning toward Kit Rocha’s Consort of Fire (the working title was “the horny dragon book”).
A book that was turned into a musical. I will probably read Rebecca for this, but may change my mind.
A book with an unreliable narrator. There must be a million to choose from; how to narrow it down?
A book by an incarcerated or formerly incarcerated person. Saw an interesting interview with the author of Chain Gang All-Stars, so I may go with that.
A cozy fantasy book. Already read Legends & Lattes for last year’s challenge.
A fiction book by a trans or nonbinary author. Casey McQuiston (who I believe is nonbinary) has a new one coming out in September if I can hold out that long.
A horror book by a BIPOC author. I am a major wimp when it comes to horror, so this one has me stumped.
A second-chance romance.

In Pakalolo’s diary Truth Social suffered a major outage, composernan rewrites “Danny Boy” into “Donny Boy.”
