14 years ago on March 23, 2010, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law by President Obama. Also known as Obamacare, the ACA has provided millions of Americans with affordable healthcare that they could only dream of before the ACA.
And during these 14 years, the republican party have been relentless in efforts to repeal it, through Congress, through ex-president trump and the non-stop campaign of lies and deceptions.
Let’s celebrate the ACA by taking a look at what it is has achieved and what remains to be done. It is also a busy day of celebrations, events and messaging on social media by Biden/Harris, Obama and Democratic leaders, many of whom have fought throughout their careers for this cause.
Here is a summary of the benefits of the ACA for millions of Americans.
A record-breaking 21.3 million Americans enrolled in health insurance plans through the Affordable Care Act marketplace during the 2024 Open Enrollment Period. Note that in addition to the 21.3 million who signed up in 2024, about 24 million people have gained health care coverage through the ACA’s Medicaid expansion.
ACA is popular as ever, because it works.

Democrats think everyone deserves access to birth control. Republicans would rather control our bodes.
Let’s celebrate and let’s keep spreading the message. History and truth are on our side, the other side only has lies and misinformation as weapons.
The GOP will not let up on their obsession to repeal the ACA; their proposed budget for 2025 does exactly that. If republicans come to power, the GOP will put their knee on the ACA. Besides the ACA, reproductive choice, birth control and lower drug prices will also get the axe under republican rule.
