DK Quilt Guild: A place for quilters to gather, share ideas, projects, and to make the world a better place, one quilt at a time. Join us and share your thoughts, projects, questions, and tips. Quilters here are at many different levels of skill. Beginners and non-quilters are welcome, too.
We NEED diarists!
Your diary can be elaborate and full of photos, a simple story of your own quilting history or that of someone you love, a discussion of a current project or a technique you're learning, new adventures... You could post quilt retreat-day recipes (things like crockpot meals, so food appears without much attention from you)…
We could do show and tell or open thread, also, but either way, we need diarists to host. It is EASY if you're willing to take the chance.We NEED diarists!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
This little wall hanging was made in December and early January, mostly by hand as my machine was in the shop.
I was not sure what to give my great-niece Ruby for a gift. Her sister Cathy was going to get an embroidery I did some time ago, it had her favorite colors in it (an iris). But what to give Ruby?
Ruby’s favorite color is rose pink. Sigh, I did not have those colors in my material stash, except for a small piece and a nice bit of cotton binding. What to do? I went to the local thrift store and found two pieces of rose pink cloth! One a lovely white and pink pattern in linen, the other a solid in a shear cotton.
I had the white cloth at home, and the little piece with the rose pattern, The top and bottom white boarders were part of an old pillow case! The pillow case was stained, but the boarder was lovely and bright. The button at the top is square and made of wood, the two little white buttons sewn on the bottom of the pink binding ribbon are round antique shell buttons.
The little piece in the middle I made into a pocket, and the lacey designs are from cloth that my mother had. The cloth is well over 60 years old I thought the little patterns would add a nice touch to the hanging. I cut out and appliqued them as you see. Rachel is not a fru-fru kind of teen, so I kept the lacy touches low key.
There is actually a backing on the hanging, which is a large fancy hand towel out of fine cotton that had been my grandmothers (that cloth is well over 100 years old).
I enjoyed making this even though I did fuss over it.
It now hangs in her bedroom in our nephews house, about 2 hours from us.
This is an open thread.
