The Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport, Washington has displays on the history of American submarines, undersea exploration, and undersea weapons.
According to the Museum:
“A submarine is a ship that can submerge, travel under the sea, and return safely to the surface.”
According to the Museum:
“The era of the true submarine began with nuclear power and the USS Nautilus (SSN 571) in 1955. Nuclear power allowed submarines to stay submerged indefinitely—limited only by the amount of food they could carry.”
