Today, we celebrate the 93rd birthday of Leonard Nimoy (March 26, 1931 – February 27, 2015), known to many as Spock in the Star Trek series and films. Besides acting, Nimoy was a film director, photographer, author, singer, and songwriter.
Leonard Nimoy directed many films, including Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986).
Nimoy authored several books, including I Am Not Spock (1975) and I Am Spock (1995). In the second book, he wrote that he finally realized his years of portraying the Spock character had led to a much greater identification between the fictional character and himself. Nimoy maintained that in some meaningful sense he had merged with Spock while distancing between fact and fiction. en.wikipedia.org/…
Let’s take a look at a few memorable quotes, as spoken by Spock, which are very relevant in these trying times of “illogic and foolish emotions” -
"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one."
"Without followers, evil cannot spread."
“In critical moments, men sometimes see exactly what they wish to see.”
"Insufficient facts always invite danger."
"I object to intellect without discipline. I object to power without constructive purpose."
“When there is no emotion, there is no motive for violence.”
“I see no logic in wanting to worship a deity that demands you to live in a perpetual state of fear.”
“May I say that I have not thoroughly enjoyed serving with Humans? I find their illogic and foolish emotions a constant irritant.”
"Once you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."
“Live long and prosper.”
Now let’s use logic to solve today’s puzzle composed by noted Italian chess composer Giorgio Guidelli (1897 - 1924) in 1922.
