It is not often that I agree with John Kirby, but here is one such instance..
The UN Security Council vote was meaningless. Okay, neither John Kirby, or Matt Miller used that exact word. But they both said it was “non-binding”. John Kirby said that “it has “no impact on Israel”. That is objectively true!! Noone is obliged to follow the UN Security Council. Certainly not Israel… as long as it continues to receive US arms and support.
What I don’t understand is if the vote is/was meaningless, then why did the US veto previous such resolutions. Matt Miller described the China/Russia veto on Friday “cynical”. Maybe that word can also be used for previous US vetoes ? Or maybe the votes are not completely meaningless… and they are actually just forecasting an actual change in policy on things that are not meaningles.
What actually matters is stuff like this…
This is beyond parody obviously… and there are liberal Jewish Americans willing to call out Biden on this.
This one, for instance..
Biden has taken a meaningless step in the right direction. I am confident the meaningful steps will follow.
Probably in about 1-2 weeks.
