I’ve written many times the Republican Party is in regression, their alleged politics, worldview and rhetoric have boxed themselves into a purely negative mental space that has nowhere to go but backwards. They endlessly get off by pissing off liberals but are oblivious that eventually such immaturity leads them worse than nowhere, regression can lead to terrible places.
It was bad enough with a putridly busted Supreme Court and essentially leaderless Republican House of Representatives, which took six months just to pass a basic budget after many pathetic continuing resolutions. Of course none of the ridiculous demands of the radical House Freedom Caucus were met, all that vitriol and boiling posturing for nothing but shame and embarrassment to the United States of America.
Think our Republican cousins couldn’t regress even further after that debacle? As stated before, mental regression accelerates, now the House Republicans are openly parroting Russian propaganda–again–in the outrageous delay in aid to Ukraine.
So, so much is on the line with the Ukraine aid vote, with the prestige, standing and face of the United States at stake, containing a ruthless, brutal dictator in Northern Europe, defending base democracy, my god, how could a faction of House Republicans get away with ripping such a terrible wound to the country and our allies?
They have twisted and contorted themselves into a place where they just don’t give a damn, they’ll take Ukraine and Northern Europe down while utterly humiliating us all just to pathetically fail at their mental masturbation hate politics. This country has seen some truly awful political episodes but openly aiding Vladimir Putin has got to be one of the worst ever seen, Ronald Reagan, George Schultz and Caspar Weinberger are spinning in their graves at 10,000 rpm.
All this against a backdrop of plain regressive insanity in the Republican Presidential 2024 candidate, the lying orange one is now out there accusing President Biden of being on cocaine, dehumanizing immigrants, and threatening the daughter of a judge overseeing his first felony trial.
Since the orange one is so frantically trying to stop his first felony trial it’s fair to assume he knows he’s guilty. It’s totally within the realm of possibility Trump could get convicted of a felony before the Republican convention, would his nomination really survive such a collar of shame?
That would take an open revolt at the convention and the totally impossible task of converting the fanatic Trump base on the fly, just forget it. Of course Trump will heinously still be standing there politically after a felony conviction as the Republican nominee, but how he campaigns from a prison cell will be a new one for us all.
You just read that, the United States of America could have a Presidential nominee who is a convicted felon and is awaiting sentencing for his prison term. That’s how far regression can take you, even after the total humiliation of failing Ukraine.
Republicans naturally will be humiliated, ashamed and angry as this flaming debacle of course smashes into nothing but failure, they could easily be looking at a unified Democratic Party 2025, even a favorable Senate map won’t save them in this hurricane of psychosis.
The blithe happy story of regression is that one or an entity eventually crashes out at the infamous bottom, a place of utter failure where there is nowhere to go but up, there is no one else to blame, no one else that can get you out of it. The blessed moment of clarity arrives and a calm honesty takes over as the first tiny steps of progression are taken on a long, long journey of becoming a good valid human again.
The real human story of regression is inevitable death or destruction, things smash out to a point of no return where it’s impossible to begin again. Many times a new beginning is possible, but the damage and wounds that were allowed to occur are everlasting, recovery will always be for a seriously diminished or crippled state.
Where the careening path of smashing bottom for the Republican Party will take us all is anybody’s guess, the only certainty that it will do enormous damage that will take a long time to recover from, if ever, before it’s finally over. It’s a terrible sight and evolution to live through, much of this isn’t about partisan politics at all, Republicans are Americans, it’s seriously damaging to the country to have them flame out so horribly.
