As a Democrat voter in Wisconsin, looking at the results that I'm seeing, I think it went pretty good…
(I'm sure that Ben W. will have an article/diary up within 24 hours that will knock this away, but I want to post my earliest "gut" reaction...)
Joe Biden scored ~89% of the vote, while orange smarmalade got only ~78% , due to Nikki Hailey's ~14%, even though she dropped out weeks ago… (Desantis barely showed up...)
The 2 referendum that were posed got passed, & I'll say that as a voter, they were ambiguously worded... I'll leave it to Ben W. to explain it, but the first referendum was about the "Zuckerbucks" that the Republicans objected to from the 2020 election... The second was written cleverly, to try to keep local election officials in their place, & out of deciding who actually won the election, as i read it… Sounded like they don't like locals controlling how we elect our officers... Typical Republican ideology...
I don't think either referendum will make it through the November election, here in Wisconsin... Everyone thinks we are a red state, but we are actually a blue/purple state, that has been gerrymandered red since 2010... Even though our state supreme court has "restored" abortion rights here, I know that it, & several other issues, will be on the ballot here, in November... We have been kinda "ungerrymandered" by the governor, with reluctant cooperation of the legislature…
If we can keep the legislature from messing with the electoral vote count, I sincerely believe Wisconsin will be a win for Joe Biden, & Democrats, up & down the ballot…
Vote Joe Biden & democracy 2024, & forever...
