Arizona Eagle PAC is seeking to defeat Rep. Eli Crane, one of the most extreme members of Congress and a continuing embarrassment to Arizona. To those who have watched “The Crown,” Crane’s visits to his northern Arizona fief are similar to Princess Elizabeth’s visit to Kenya, a rare experience filled with wonder that is not often repeated. Crane lives outside the district in Tucson and has made no attempt to find a home in the district.
Crane, on the record as opposing abortions, even those that involve rape or incest, has not followed Trump’s attempt to moderate his stand.
One of the most bizarre proposals from Crane is an insistence that his colleagues completely cut off all trade with Mexico, the second largest trading partner of the U.S. His proposal would create food shortages and very high grocery prices for the entire country.
Crane defeated Rep. Tom O’Halleran in 2022 by running as a generic Republican in a new gerrymandered district. Now better known to his constituents, Crane will poll so much worse than a typical Republican.
A follower rather than a leader, Crane is an acolyte to Matt Gaetz, Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs, essentially the bottom of the barrel of House Republicans. He was persuaded by Gaetz and Biggs to provide one of the eight votes that removed Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy. A McCarthy PAC is already running TV ads against Crane.
The leading Democratic candidate in the race is Jonathan Nez, the former president of the Navajo Nation. In addition to a large segment of the Navajo Nation, the Second Congressional District also includes the Hopis and Apaches, and some smaller tribes.
If we can beat Crane, we can take the majority in the House. If you would like to help, please donate at Arizona Eagle PAC, or send your contribution to Arizona Eagle PAC, PO Box 588, Pinetop, AZ 85935.
Crane has spent much of his brief career fomenting chaos about the border, but voted against a package of reforms put forward by his own party. He would much rather have an issue to complain about than support a fix.
Crane’s big money supporters are conspiracy theorist Richard Uihlein, Ryan Salame, who pleaded guilty to using company money to make illegal political contributions, Paul Singer, who took Justice Alito on an elaborate fishing trip, and Stephan Schwartzman, the owner of Blackstone Investment group. Naturally, Crane voted to allow money managers to sell risky or even fraudulent private investments.
