It was national road work awareness week last week. There were signs all over the highway. I had no clue how to celebrate, so I bought a bunch of little orange traffic cones and tossed them on the sides of the highway as I drove about.
I have been going to this little international store that sells a lot of things, but mostly they sell candy. Some by the pound and some individually. Candy from all over the world! I had a basket, a basket made of grass from South Carolina. I love these because you can get them wet.
I was going to fill the basket with a variety of candy for some friends of mine. It’s been in a bag in my car for a few weeks and I checked it out before I went into the store. It was a little smaller than I remembered. Really only a handful of candy would fit.
I went into the store to make my small purchase and came out with a bag of candy larger than my head. I couldn’t help it, they sell Smarties. Smarties are a candy made by Nestles that are kind of like M&M’s but way better.
Not sold in the US, but I know them from Canada. The ones I got yesterday were from Germany. They came in a box too, not earth unfriendly plastic.

While driving all over town I was listening to NPR and heard a great Earth Day show. They were talking about laundry detergent and how the liquid kind came in such wasteful containers. Powdered detergent was suggested and then they talked about sheets. Kind of like dryer sheets, but for the washer. They come in a paper box and deteriorate in the wash.
I did about an hour and a half of research on them when I got home. Some maybe don’t deteriorate so well, especially in cold water which is all I use. Some have some chemicals that I might not want on my clothes. I ordered some that sounded pretty good and were in my price range. I’ll let you know how they work.
That’s my nothing. What kind of nothing have you been up to?
